Alex is a sweet, high energy boy. He is very loving but lacks “basic” doggie manners. I don’t think Alex has been given much love or attention in his short little life. He thrives on attention, hugs and rubs. He suffers from “HDS” – happy doggie syndrome which causes his tail to wag constantly. Alex is crate trained and quiet at night once you get him settled in. Alex is also leash trained and gets right down to his business when taken for his daily walks. Alex is very skinny, but daily rations of chicken breast should plump him up real soon. Alex has not had much to eat in his short little life, but he is not guarded or aggressive around his food bowl.
However, Alex is a bit of a jumper and climber. He can jump on my desk in a single bound and he can scale a wood or chain link fence. This is not unusual for cockers but it requires a patient owner who will not leave him outdoors unattended. We are working on curbing Alex’s climbing habits, but our focus for this little guy is showing him unconditional love. He is learning to mind and Alex shows no signs of ill health despite his HW+ status. Alex will receive his treatment over the holidays. Because he is so young, we expect him to have a full recovery and live a long happy life. Two of our own dogs were HW+ six years ago when we adopted them and they are happy, loving family members. To know Alex is to love him!
