Here's a photo the kids sitting in the car we donated. I used to take them riding in this car just to give them an excursion.
We bought the car new in 1983, and truly loved the car. After about 10 years, I started looking for a replacement, then took an additional 15 years to find a car I wanted enough to replace my sentimental and reliable Mercedes. Over the past 3-4 years we have lived in an area without a great Mercedes repair shop, so I began contemplating what to do with the car. Restore, just keep, sell, or donate. About a year ago, I migrated to donation and looked for potential organizations. I did indeed find the Cocker Spaniel Rescue of Maryland group had a car donation plan. Of course, the cocker spaniel evoked an emotion sufficient from me to consider parting with my venerated car. Alas, I had no significant connection to Maryland. I searched places where we have truly enjoyed living. The car and 4 of our cockers were from our time in Austin. When I did not see a ready way to donate the car to your effort (this was a year ago), I just shelved the project since I could not come up with an equally cherishable idea. I was very pleased when this month I revisited this project, finding you had developed your website, adding a car donation option.
So your efforts were rather helpful to me. We currently live in Iowa so your efforts also spanned some distance!
Take care, and best wishes
Susan
