Jenna, more often known as Jenny, Old Girl, and Sweetheart is probably around 10 years old. She came to rescue when her mom could no longer care for her or provide for her medical care. Jenny had glaucoma and upon entering rescue had her right eye removed. Thankfully, her left eye is healthy and she sees very well. She does, however, have issues with hearing and is pretty much deaf -- which makes for long and peaceful naps with no bother from the other dogs in her foster home. She has a beautiful sable colored coat and weighs approximately 25 pounds.
She has many foster brothers and sisters (small breed) and gets along great with all of them, as well as the cats in her foster home. She and the other seniors in the home don't do a lot of playing but enjoy being couch potatoes when they aren't wandering the yard looking for deer poop and enjoying the sun. She has had occasional contact with children and has been fine with them, but will likely follow them every step in hopes they drop a snack on the floor! Jenny LOVES her morning and bed time treats! Jenny has become something of a Patriot football fan, but that is probably because she really enjoys the kisses and pets her foster mom passes around when the game is going well and snuggling by mom while she follows the plays.
Jenny's least favorite thing is her crate. She would really rather never have to be in it but will go in quietly as long as she is given some peanut butter or other frozen treat in a Kong that keeps her busy until her foster mom leaves. There's just a tad of separation anxiety there, and who can blame her after losing her long-time home. She doesn't quite understand that she has to stay in her crate because she has too much of a fondness for the covers of books when she can get to them and she gets bored on a long day. She also, like many dogs her age, needs fairly frequent potty breaks and if free-roaming the house will not always use puppy pads. When her foster mom is home she tries to let Jenny out every hour or so and Jenny helps remind her if she forgets. Jenny would so benefit from a forever home where someone is home more than they are not home.
Jenny is quiet and oh-so-sweet and such a wonderful companion. Each time her foster mom looks into her eye and sees the love and adoration that is there she thinks how desperately Jenny deserves a wonderful, loving, calm home for the rest of her years. (Austin)
