A note from McCoy: May 15, 2012
Dear peoples -
I'm so sorry I haven't been able to write in a while. SHE won't let me use the laptop anymore. I did NOT eat the "!" key - it wasn't me. I didn't do it. Someotherdog did it. Not me. So - she banned me from writing. BUT - HA! The joke's on her - she left the laptop open and was stalking some other poor dog with that bath look on her face. HAHAHAHAHA! It will take her a little while and I'll be finished by then.
Just so you know - I'm not a whiner. That is Maxwell - he is a whiner. Never heard anything like it. But I digress - my problem is this: SHE won't let me go run in the field. Says there are too many stickers and maybe snakes. I said "so?" and SHE said "forget it." Ugh. I'm so mad.
Secondly - I've had TWO baths since we last chatted. Ugh. I get it like I like it and she ruins it with some smelly shampoo. And brushing. Well, I sort of like that. At least she hasn't trimmed my face. I'm going for that rugged, carefree, handsome dog look. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of my good looking self - they're all on HER camera and she won't give them to me.
Third - I guess I need to think about getting a place of my own. It's good here and all but if I'm not going to get to post on FB and run in the field, what's the point? SHE said I'm a special needs dog because I have a heart condition - but I feel fine. I take my blood pressure meds (she wraps them in a cookie) and I'm Just FINE! Thanks you. She says I need to visit the cardiologist. OK. Does he have any cookies? Or a field? If so, I can do that. Anyway - just letting you know, I could be talked into considering applications. I will be happy to let you sleep on my bed and I really don't like to lift my leg in the house unless I'm forced to do so. Just not polite, you know. And - I will require a supply of squeaky toys which I will squeak with a very nice rhythm for hours on end. I like that a lot. SHE gets cranky but I still like it and since I had my ear surgery, I pretend I can't hear her tell me to knock it off.
And lastly -
I really really really really appreciate everyone helping me get my ears fixed. It totally changed my life. I can ask for ear scritches now without being afraid it will hurt. You guys are the best. AND you helped those Eastland dogs get new homes. I liked Fozzie - he was pretty cool for a youngster. He went to Austin with a brand new haircut and looked pretty good - he still has a lot to learn but is smart so will be fine. And Dougie got a home - way to go DUDE! We liked Doug. And - about Posey. Why did she have to leave? We were all smitten with her! She is Very Pretty - and was fun to run with in the yard. If you see her, tell her McCoy said "hey!"
Got to go now - I can her HER stomping down the hall with her bath victim and don't want to be next!
Hugs to all -
McCoy
Update from McCoy: March 5, 2012
Hey everyone!
McCoy here! The mom hasn't had any time to do a proper report - as she ran by she told me to do it myself if I wanted it done. So - here it is - without even a picture. She told me no picture since I needed a haircut so I'm laying low - not mentioning it again.
I've been asked to talk about how the addition of the Eastland dogs has affected our lives. That would be ME and my friends who live here all the time. We feel really bad for the new dogs, especially Doug. He is really scared and doesn't know anything! I don't remember where I came from but I knew stuff - even when I got here and didn't feel good. I knew about dog beds and that people were mostly good. Doug just slithers around and that's just embarrassing. We tell him it's ok but he isn't able to hear us yet. He will get better I'm sure. I had a few rocky days myself when I got here.
Then there's Phebe. She is the devil. No. Really. She is flying through the air all the time. Like a squirrel. Never wears down - she makes us all tired. Can someone get her a sedative? Please? Not that we don't like her and all - she's pretty nice, but just has a lot of puppy energy. Eats everything - paper, dirt, grass, rocks. ugh. Teenagers.
Fozzie went to boarding - Mom said he gets neutered tomorrow. Ha! He needs it. Doug too. Less to think about that way. Fozzie walked in like he was in charge. Humph. He's not. I am.
We like LeeAnn a lot. She is nice and friendly. Really pretty. Mom said she might be a little cranky due to the babies but she's ok. Sometimes she comes to the yard with us but can only visit a little - always busy.
Over the weekend, Ms. Michelle came to help the mom out - what we didn't know was she was here to groom dogs. She does that for a living. Mom and Michelle were visiting and then I notice they were looking squinty eyed at me - and BAM! I'm in the bath. Everyone got a bath. Should have known - they were wearing those aprons. I didn't get my muzzle trimmed and I like it that way, but Mom said don't get too comfortable with a fuzz face since it's not my best look.
We met the two expectant girls - Babs and Britney. They were nice - Babs was big and tired. Britney was silly and big. Mom said Babs had some baby dogs and some were spotted like me. They must be very attractive!
Well - anyway, my main complaint is that the Mom is really busy taking care of everyone and I'm not getting to run in the field like I want to do. She told me to suck it up and be a grown-up. This is temporary. I hope so. It's not all about me - it's about the Eastland dogs too. They need good forever homes and they deserve good stuff in their lives. Like all CSRA dogs - we might have fallen on hard times but the future looks bright.
So - my main message is - we don't want to see this happen again. The Eastland dogs didn't deserve their previous live - and neither did the mom and her CSRA friends - and the other groups in the state who helped the dogs. Way to go everyone! Thanks for all your hard work, caring, and sacrifice. BUT - let's get this show on the road and get things back to normal. I need to get back to my exercise routine. Need to RUN!
Lots of smooches and hugs to everyone - Your McCoy
