Summer Porter July 7, 2007 – October 20, 2023
Flowers in springtime bring butterflies
While June ushers in sunnier days.
But the warmth of the sun was never so bright,
until we found a little girl named Summer.
She made her entry, head lifted high,
With the air of a princess and long, silky ears,
This two-year-old cocker spaniel with big brown eyes,
Strolled into our lives, making our home hers.
Kisses like honey and a rapidly wagging tail,
Brought exuberance to a whole new high.
But after fourteen years of joy and spunk,
Summer crossed the rainbow bridge while our hearts sunk.
Time will put distance to the heartache we feel
So we can breathe more deeply, letting life back in,
Blessed with so much joy that we knew
From the beginning, it would someday end.
