My name is Honu, which is Hawaiian for "sea turtle." Sea turtles are highly regarded in the Hawaiian culture and are believed to be good luck. So, in essence, if you adopt me, maybe that means YOU will have good luck! Well, I know I'M lucky. For instance, I was rescued from an animal shelter by this great group of cocker spaniel lovers. Wow! Then I was vetted and cleaned up. I went into a foster home with lots of other cocker spaniels (and cocker spaniel lovers). Cool! Imagine my luck - they don't even seem to get mad when I chew up their shoes or their favorite sweaters, or even when I have a potty accident in the house! Awesome! See, I'm lucky! Yep! They do say my name a lot, which I think is because they want me to learn it. They're always saying, "Oh Honu!" or "Honu, we don't destroy our toys; we PLAY with them!" In my foster home, I have big people and little people, and old and young dogs. I like EVERYONE! The shelter had my age as 3, but my foster family keeps taking deep breaths and saying, "he's just a puppy." Not sure why they keep saying that, but they also think I'm closer to 12 months old. I take my medicine and treats soooo gently. And I love to go for walks. I've been told that I have something called "heartworms." Mama says my future family can still adopt me though, and I know I will be just fine because like I've said, I'm a lucky boy! Ask about making me your lucky sea turtle! Interested in adoption? Our adoptions require an approved application which you can find at www.austincockerrescue.org (photos are of Honu before and after his grooming--he had some mats that had to be shaved down)
